Minsteracres Retreat Centre in the heart the Northumberland countryside is steeped in history with a special atmosphere around the place.
The days are just starting to get longer and our spirits are beginning to rise, and we are looking forward to the year ahead with anticipation and a desire to plan some restorative activities and perhaps some time at Minsteracres Retreat Centre in the wilds of Northumberland. Visit the website at www.minsteracres.org to find out the fabulous things that are on offer to help you on your way.
Minsteracres is a beautiful 110 acre estate in the North East, and in the Land of the Northern Saints it is steeped in history with a very special atmosphere. It has been hosting Christian retreats for many years in its inspirational setting. Originally a grand mansion the Minsteracres house has variously been home to a Roman Catholic mission (opened in 1765), George Silvertop (1775-1849) the first Roman Catholic to become High Sheriff of Northumberland after the reformation, and now it is a place of contemplation and retreat.
Within the historic buildings there is space for prayer and gatherings and a variety of good standard accommodation to make a stay welcoming and truly relaxing.
The Life In The Psalms day is lovely for helping you explore contemporary meaning in ancient texts: a study day exploring how the ancient texts of the psalms can be re-imagined so that they speak to our contemporary secular world.
For a more casual day try a Walking Retreat. Take the time to enjoy a walk of seven to ten miles with a group of like-minded people, through the beautiful countryside around Minsteracres’ 110 acre estate. You will have time for prayer, reflection and to share the beauty of creation. Remember that you will need walking boots or similar and warm, weatherproof clothing at this time of year, and take a packed lunch of tasty treats as you are bound to work up an appetite.
When you come to Minsteracres on retreat, you will stay in one of the beautiful retreat houses and enjoy the catering provided. You can organise your own self-led group, perhaps for your parish members or prayer group, in the restful Christian retreat centre. Book Minsteracres as your perfect spot. There is accommodation for up to 80 people across two houses, and bunk accommodation for up to 36 in the youth centre. You can make use of this beautiful retreat in North East with its 110 acres of garden, woodland and parkland. For indoor activities, there are lots of rooms for meetings and events
You will find indicated prices for the organised retreats and events, these are to help cover costs, but the lovely people at Minsteracres feel that no one should be excluded for financial reasons so concessions are available, just ask them for details.
